Installation ​

Prerequisites ​

Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements:

  • ExpressionEngine 7.3+
  • PHP 8.0+
  • cURL, with an up-to-date CA bundle. From v6.0.0 the SSL certificates of the providers are verified, a server without a CA bundle cannot log in (the SSO log shows an SSL certificate error). See curl.cainfo in your php.ini.
  • The BCMath or GMP PHP extension for Sign in with Apple

For ExpressionEngine 6 the download contains a legacy package in the legacy folder (ee_sso-v5.9.0.zip). The packages for ExpressionEngine 3, 4 and 5 are no longer included.

Installation Instructions ​

  • Upload the folders to the right folder according the downloaded ZIP structure
  • Install the add-on in Add-Ons (Social Sign On)
  • Make sure you set Website Session type to Cookies only in the EEcms settings

Update instructions ​

  • Backup the Files and the Database
  • Remove the old add-on files (system/user/addons/reinos_sso)
  • Place the new files in the right folders
  • Go to Add-Ons and click the update button of Social Sign On

Updating to v6.0.0 ​

  • v6.0.0 requires ExpressionEngine 7.3+ and PHP 8.0+. On ExpressionEngine 6 use the legacy package legacy/ee_sso-v5.9.0.zip. (Breaking change)
  • The tables, actions and hooks are now managed by the ExpressionEngine 7 add-on installer. Your settings, providers, linked accounts and logs are kept.
  • Links you built yourself with {reinos_sso_action_url} or an ACT= id plus &method=auth or &method=disconnect keep working, but are deprecated. Use the links of {exp:reinos_sso:login_links} and {exp:reinos_sso:linked_providers}, or the new {reinos_sso_auth_url} and {reinos_sso_disconnect_url} globals, see Disconnect.
  • Custom disconnect links (not {provider_disconnect_link}) must add &csrf_token={csrf_token}, see Disconnect. (Breaking change)
  • Check the setting Allow social login to merge with non social accounts and the new setting Require a verified email to link an existing account (on by default) after the update.
  • The $new_member param of the sso_login hook is only true when the login created the member, see Hooks. (Breaking change)
  • The Instagram provider is removed, together with the accounts linked to it: Instagram has shut down the API it used. Members that only logged in with Instagram can set a password with Forgot password. (Breaking change)
