Upgrading to 2.0

2.0.0 is a major release. Most sites update without changes, but read this page before you update. All changes are in the changelog.

Follow the update instructions. Make a backup of the files and the database first, and test the update on a copy of your site when you can.

Requirements

2.0.0 requires ExpressionEngine 7+ and PHP 8.0+, from 2.0.1 ExpressionEngine 7.3+, see the prerequisites. For ExpressionEngine 6 and lower use the legacy package in the download (legacy/ee_reinos_email_queue-v1.2.0.zip). The automatic migration from the old Email Form module is removed.

Check your templates

The unused {reinos_email_queue_action_url} global variable is removed. For your cron job, use the Cron URL shown on the settings page.

After the update

• Your cron job keeps working: the old cron URL (?ACT=<id>&method=send_mail) still runs the queue. The settings page shows the new cron URL (?ACT=<id>). See Control Panel
• Optionally set a Cron key, so only a cron URL with that key runs the queue, and update your cron job with the new cron URL.
• The email queue overview is now the start page of the add-on: addons/settings/reinos_email_queue (before addons/settings/reinos_email_queue/emails). The settings stay at addons/settings/reinos_email_queue/settings.
• Failed emails are retried up to the Max attempts setting.

For developers

• Add an email to the queue from your own add-on with ee('reinos_email_queue:Queue')->add([...]). See Queue API
• The hooks behind the removed {reinos_email_queue_action_url} global variable are removed.
• The installer uses the ExpressionEngine 7 add-on installer and migrations, and the control panel pages use the ExpressionEngine 7 control panel routes.
