Upgrading to 2.0

2.0.0 is a major release. Most sites update without changes, but read this page before you update: it lists what you have to check in your templates and settings. All changes are in the changelog.

Follow the update instructions. Make a backup of the files and the database first, and test the update on a copy of your site when you can.

Requirements

2.0.0 requires ExpressionEngine 7.3+, PHP 8.2+ and Store 4.0.0+. Update the Store first: when the Store is missing or older, the install stops with an error and the update with a notice (the old version stays installed). For ExpressionEngine 6 use the legacy package in the download (legacy/ee_reinos_store_email-v1.4.0.zip). See Installation.

Check your templates

Status and status label

{status} is the status itself (for example complete) and {status_label} the label (for example Complete), in the subject and in the content, as in Store 4.0.0.

• Existing templates are updated from {status} to {status_label}, so the content keeps showing the label. In the subject, where {status} was the status itself, it now shows the label too.
• A conditional that compares status with the label (like {if status == "Complete"}) must compare with the status itself now (like {if status == "complete"}).

Awaiting payment template

A new install also creates the template Order confirmation (awaiting payment) (status Pending, not paid), so an order with the Manual gateway gets a confirmation as well. The update doesn't create it: if you use the Manual gateway, add a template on Pending + Is Paid No yourself (e.g. with the duplicate action on the template overview). See How does it work.

After the update

• Update the add-on right after uploading the files: the emails are sent and the templates are validated through new actions, and until the update has run the emails can't be sent.
• The control panel pages moved: the template overview is at addons/settings/reinos_store_email (was addons/settings/reinos_store_email/templates), and a template is edited at addons/settings/reinos_store_email/template/<id> (was .../templates/<id>). Update your bookmarks.

For developers

• The emails are sent and the templates are validated through their own actions (send_email and validate_email_template) instead of the general act_route action. The act_route action and the {reinos_store_email_action_url} global variable are removed.
• The tables are created and updated by migrations.
