Upgrading to 2.0

2.0.0 is a major release. Most sites update without changes, but read this page before you update: it lists what you have to check in your rules and templates. All changes are in the changelog.

Follow the update instructions. Make a backup of the files and the database first, and test the update on a copy of your site when you can.

Requirements

2.0.0 requires ExpressionEngine 7.3+, PHP 8.2+ and Reinos Store 4.0.0+. For ExpressionEngine 6 and lower use the legacy package in the download (legacy/ee_reinos_store_shipping-v1.8.0.zip).

  • Update Reinos Store to 4.0.0 or later first, see Upgrading to 4.0 of the Store. The install and the update stop with an error when Store is not installed or older.
  • Updating from a version before 1.7.0? Update to 1.8.0 first (the legacy package in the legacy folder), then to 2.0.0.
  • cURL is no longer required.

Check your rules

Country rules win over continent rules

A rule for a continent could win over a rule for the country, e.g. the more expensive Europe rule for a Dutch cart, or a random one of both with the same weight threshold. The rules of the country are now checked first in every step, the continent rules are the fallback.

Check your rules when a country has a rule of its own next to a continent rule: e.g. the Netherlands with threshold 0 and Europe with threshold 10 now gives a heavy Dutch cart the Netherlands rule. Add the weight tiers to the country rule. See How the rule is chosen.

Check your templates

  • When the cart changes after the shipping method was chosen (e.g. another country, weight or products) and another rule matches the cart, the customer has to choose the shipping method again. The checkout shows {global_error:shipping_method_missing} then, show it in your checkout template. See Checkout validation
  • The unused {reinos_store_shipping_action_url} global variable is removed. Remove it from your templates.

After the update

  • The rules overview is now the add-on's main page in the CP (addons/settings/reinos_store_shipping, /rules no longer exists), and a rule is added or edited at /rule and /rule/<rule_id>. Update your bookmarks.
  • The update drops the reinos_store_shipping_zones__backup table, the backup of the zones that the 1.7.0 update converted to rules.
  • The module writes logs now. Set the Log severity to Everything while you check your rules, to see the carts for which no rule was found.
